Teresa Ribeiro was appointed as Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in November 2015. Until that date and since 2013, she had held the position of Deputy Secretary-General for Energy at the Union for the Mediterranean, in Barcelona. She was also Secretary of State for European Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal between 2008 and 2009. Throughout her career, Ribeiro has held different positions in media and international relations at Portuguese institutions, with extensive experience working with the EU. She was also Administrator at AICEP (Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal), Director-General at the Institute for Communication and Media and Director of International Affairs at the same Institute. She holds a degree in Philosophy from the University of Lisbon.
