UNIDO Sustainable Energy Expert
Karin Reiss is a UNIDO staff and works as a Sustainable Energy Expert based at the SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) in Windhoek, Namibia. She has a strong focus on regional cooperation and networks in sustainable energy and supports SACREEE in its institutional set up and in the development and implementation of regional programs. She has over 13 years of experience in managing and implementing complex projects and programs in developing countries and countries with economies in transition. Prior to SACREEE she was based at the ECOWAS Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) in Praia, Cape Verde where she provided principle support to the Executive Director on organizational and programmatic activities. She also acted as a regional SEforALL coordinator. Before joining ECREEE, she worked for the Austrian Energy Agency on international collaborations in Energy Policy and Capacity Building. She was one of the key experts in the development of the ECOWAS Renewable and Energy Efficiency Policy and Action Plan, which was adopted by the ECOWAS Heads of States and Governments in July 2013. In her previous position she was a member of the overall coordination team for the Concerted Action on the implementation of the Renewable Energy Action Plans in the European Union. She was also engaged in key activities of the Global Forum on Sustainable Energy (GFSE) and the Focal Point for the Central European Initiative (CEI).
