United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS)
Heidi Schroderus-Fox was appointed as Director of the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States in July 2012. She serves as Deputy to the High Representative and oversees management and programmatic work of the office. Ms. Schroderus-Fox has extensive experience at the UN. During 2010-2011 she served as Head of Policy Issues for the Office of the President of the United Nations General Assembly. In this capacity, she advised the President of the General Assembly on all policy issues under consideration and led a group of policy experts. On behalf of the PGA, she developed ideas for thematic debates and helped to mediate complex negotiations, for instance, on the UN Peacebuilding Review. She also coordinated the preparations of the High Level Meeting on the Implementation of the Mauritius Strategy for the Sustainable Development of Small Island Developing States, as well as the OPGA preparations for the Fourth UN Conference on the Least Developed Countries. Ms. Schroderus-Fox holds the rank of Ambassador in the Finnish Foreign Service. During her 24 years of work for Finland, she has made significant contributions in the areas of inter-governmental policy dialogue, partnership building and negotiations. Ms. Schroderus-Fox also served as Deputy Permanent Representative of Finland to the UN in New York during 2006-2010. Prior to being posted to the UN, Ms. Schroderus-Fox held a succession of increasing leadership positions at the Finnish Foreign Ministry and in diplomatic postings to Paris, Washington DC, Tel Aviv, Geneva and Pretoria.
