Ali AlShafar is the Permanent Representative of the UAE to the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (MOFAIC). He acts as the focal point overseeing the host country affairs and representing the UAE in IRENA and relevant international fora. Previously, Ali AlShafar served as the Deputy Director at the Directorate of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) in MOFAIC, where he was part of the team responsible for topics of energy, sustainability, and climate change including stakeholders engagements and UAE representation in the different international platforms, including IRENA. Prior to joining MOFAIC, Ali AlShafar experience expands from Industries such as Transportation, Telecommunications, to SME development. Ali AlShafar holds a Master degree in public administration from the school of International and public affairs, Columbia University.
