Fernando Medina has been Mayor of Lisbon since 2015 and President of the Lisboa Metropolitan area since 2017. He has a Degree in Economics by the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto and a Master’s Degree in Economic Sociology by the School of Economics and Management from de University of Lisbon. He was Secretary of State for Industry and Development from 2009 to 2011, and Secretary of State for Employment and Vocational Training from 2005 to 2009. From 2011 to 2013, he was a member of the Portuguese Parliament, serving in the Budget and Finance Commission. He was also an Adviser to the Chairman of the Portuguese Investment Agency, Adviser to the Prime Minister on Education, Science and Technology, and a Member of the Ministry of Education Working Group of the Portuguese Presidency of the European Union.
