Group Head of Strategy and Global Head of Sustainable Finance
Daniel Klier joined HSBC in August 2013 as Group Head of Strategy in London. He oversees the development of HSBC’s global strategy, allocation of resources and implementation of the Group’s strategic projects. As Global Head of Sustainable Finance since June 2017, Klier is also leading the Group’s efforts to become a global leader in Sustainable Finance. The shift to a low carbon economy presents material risks and opportunities for financial institutions. Prior to joining HSBC, Klier was a Partner at McKinsey & Company where he served financial institutions and private equity firms across Europe and Asia. He was also a member of the global operating committee of McKinsey's corporate and investment banking practice. Klier holds a PhD from his studies at Columbia University and the University of Dortmund. He also studied Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and the London School of Economics. He is also a Young Global Leader at the World Economic Forum.
