Enabling Jobs with Energy- Opportunities, Challenges and Ongoing Activities

Wednesday, May 2nd: 16:00 - 17:30 - Belém

HOST: Africa-EU Energy Partnership

Jobs are the cornerstone of economic and social development. They allow people to earn an income and work their way out of poverty to attain better livelihoods. The creation of decent jobs is thus a key priority, particularly in Africa, where leaders are striving to harness the continent’s demographic dividend and create quality jobs - especially for young people.

But how can this be achieved, and what role can energy – a prerequisite for the provision of important services and a recognized enabler of economic development – play in facilitating this? Continuing the dialogue between African and European partners on this, the interactive session will showcase practical experiences in designing and implementing tools, projects and policies to enable job creation in Africa through energy.
