Lisbon gets ready to host the Sustainable Energy for All Forum

April 20, 2018: In just under two weeks, the Sustainable Energy for All Forum will return and for the first time be hosted in Portugal.

The Forum, to be held in Lisbon on May 2 and 3, will this year be under the theme of “Leaving no one behind” and assess progress on Sustainable Development Goal 7 – ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all.

António Luís Guerra Nunes Mexia, Chair of the Administrative Board of Sustainable Energy for All and CEO of the Portuguese utility company Energias de Portugal (EDP), said:

“This Forum is an opportunity to openly discuss how we can - through several initiatives around the world - address the challenges we are currently facing in the areas of energy access, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

“We must work together to achieve the targets of the Paris Climate Agreement and join forces to meet the UN Sustainable Development Goal of attaining universal access to reliable, sustainable and modern energy sources by 2030.

“This is the moment to turn words into action and ensure that nations, citizens and the various economic sectors work together to provide a better future for all. This has been one of EDP's key drivers in the last decade and will continue to be so. Hence the importance of, and pride in, the position I took at SEforALL a year ago. My goal is to actively contribute to laying the foundations of the fairer and more sustainable world we all aspire to - a world in which access to energy plays a crucial role.”

Registration is still open to attend the Forum. Confirm your place by registering here.
